Group Blog: We're All In This Together!

Although I enjoyed my time last year with my groupmate, Sophia, with whom I did all of my AS-Level projects, I am excited to move on this year. Since she is no longer taking AICE Media Studies, I have had to find a new group. The group that I found consists of my friend, Ashley S, who I worked with on my music video in AS-Level, and my friend Jordyn M, who I have yet to work with on a media project. I believe that this group will work very well together as all of the members are already good friends. I have known Ashley for almost all of my life and did Girl Scouts with her when I was very young. I have always been close to her and would love the opportunity to work with her again. I met Jordyn at the beginning of last year and instantly became friends with her. She has a very welcoming personality that makes it easy to be around her and is also a very hard worker. I know I will enjoy working on this project with my wonderful group! Today is the first day that the group met to brainstorm ideas. Jordyn had been working on some ideas over the break, which she presented to me and Ashley. As she went through the ideas, Ashley and I were able to build off of what she was saying, contribute ideas of interest, and decided whether or not this topic was realistically a possibility to carry out with the resources available to the group and the skill of each of the members. After this, the group watched some videos of interest for the type of film that each member envisioned and sent them in a shared group chat with all three members. With the inspiration of these basic foundational ideas, the group was able to come up with even more film topics. After going through again, the group chose the three-to-five favorite topics and highlighted those. After this, the group still continued to go back and forth, adding small bits of ideas and critiques to each topic, and discussing the pros and cons. Finally, the group decided to call it a day. Just from this one day of work alone, I know my group and I will work fantastically together. It was so amazing how the group was able to throw ideas around so easily which excited me and the rest of the members. I am so excited and I cannot wait to work with these people for the rest of the year!

Final Editing Blog

My second day of editing was much more difficult than the first. After a tedious review, I decided to switch some of the takes for the shots, to make the clips fit together better. I then spent quite a long time editing the clips precisely from the beginning and end and once again edited the speed of the clips. I also put a lot of focus into choosing the correct transitions between shots. The last part of the editing was the hardest by far. This part was choosing a song. I searched through all of my Spotify playlists and liked artists. I tried many songs, but they did not fit well with the commercial. One artist in particular that I looked deeply into was Calvin Harris. I have listened to his music before and I know that he has very upbeat music, which is typical for commercials with physical activity.  I tried many of his songs, including, "Slide" and "Feel so close". Production Blog: End of Editing

 Greetings! I am so excited to be with you today as I near the end of the production series! To kick off today's editing, the group began discussing the title sequence. The main issue regarding the title sequence was the font. Jordyn browsed the fonts available on the DaVinci Resolve software, but none of them really appealed to the group. I really wanted to have a font that looks like the number on the alarm clock; a sort of techy font to centralize or work in the idea of the clock, but this was not easy to find. Jordyn ended up finding one just like it on an outside website and was able to download it for free, so I was ecstatic. Jordyn also suggested the idea of having the titles fade in and out to represent the character's unsteady memory, which I liked as well. After deciding on these aspects, the group moved on.
