Production Blog: Scheduling Issues
Hello and welcome back to my blog! Today, I am going to share some of the unfortunate events that have recently been preventing my group and I from beginning the filming process. My group has a very conflicting schedule with work days and overloads of homework, so it was difficult to find a date that worked for each group member. Although behind what was initially planned, my groupmate Jordyn suggested that the filming would begin this past weekend, on Saturday the 25th. The group unanimously agreed that this date would work. I was so excited to actually start filming! But I lost hope quickly....unfortunately, this date did not work out. Everyone in my group is a high school Junior, and cannot film as the SAT Exam is taking place this Wednesday. The group agreed to prioritize SAT studying as the filming could take place at a later date, one on which they and I are much less stressed. The date now planned for the start of filming is this upcoming Thursday the 2nd.
Now that the dates are figured out at least somewhat, let's move on to one of my favorite parts of the film, the props! The film will have many props, but some will be more prominent than others. The film will obviously have many general props to set the atmosphere, such as the furniture in Ashley's bedroom and bathroom where scenes will be filmed, or the office supplies during the desk scene. These are important in developing the scene and giving the context to the location to the viewer, yet these are not as carefully planned as some others have been. These props include a voice recorder, desk phone, and quite possibly the most important, an old digital clock. Certain props like these not only help develop the setting but also contribute to the storyline. The recorder will be used every morning when the subject wakes up to record her daily message, while the digital clock will display the number 24. The desk phone is part of an important buildup that my group has imagined for the office scene. My groupmate Jordyn went out to shop for these props in her free time, and unfortunately, I was not able to tag along, as she lives pretty far away from me. She was able to find the voice recorder at a thrift store and sent me a photograph, I was very excited and it is quite cool-looking. She also let me know that she has a digital clock at home (pictured below), and she has emailed some of the administrators at her and I's high school to ask for permission to take home a desk phone. If this does not work out, the phone at her dad's desk should work just fine. I offered to acquire a stress ball from the store Five Below, and some non-prescription glasses for Ashley to wear. If needed, Ashley has some old prescription glasses from when she used to need them that would also work fine. I am so excited to begin filming!
