27 titles were displayed in total in the opening scene. This included the production companies, the names of the main actors, the title of the film, casting director, costume designer, music director, editors, production designer, producers, writer, and director. 

  1. What images are prioritized in the opening sequence? 

In this opening scene, the prioritized images are images of the city. From these images, you can tell it is New York city. 

  1. What connotations do these images carry? 

These images carry a mysterious connotation. As they show us our way around the city and central park, we get a creepy feeling. This is re-insured by the creepy music in the background. 

  1. How does the film establish a feeling of the genre from the outset? 

Other than the images, this film begins with very mysterious or creepy non- diegetic music. Usually with a mysterious opening scene such as this one, you can assume thriller or horror. 

  1. What strategies are used to ensure the film appeals to its target audience? 

Viewers who enjoy a horror/ thriller film will be drawn in by the music in the background, and by the mysterious slideshow of photos around New York City. This digs into the suspense element of a thriller film. 

  1. How has technology been used effectively? You want to consider camera angles, transitions and editing techniques. 

They use many aerial shots as we go around New York City, to show the various buildings, and Central Park. There are no discernable transitions, but they do use editing to make the titles seem like they are in or on the buildings being shown.
